How to keep up with compliance and regulations?
The need for proper food traceability has become an essential component of modern food manufacturing. However, many food manufacturers are still struggling to keep up with the demands of compliance and regulations. SMB food vendors must maintain accurate records of all ingredients used in their products and trace them through the supply chain to ensure compliance with regulations.
In Canada, upon request, food manufacturers need to provide the traceability documents to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA):
- in English or French;
- within 24 hours of the CFIA making the request;
- within a shorter period of time if the CFIA believes there is a risk of injury to human health.
However, with the ever-changing landscape of legislation, outdated manual processes, or software that can only partially meet industry standards, it is becoming increasingly more challenging for SMB food manufacturers to stay compliant. Especially without additional technological investments, as manual tracking of these processes is highly time-consuming and prone to errors.
SMB food manufacturers need a system that can track all their ingredients and products quickly and accurately to ensure compliance. By implementing an ERP system with the necessary features, they can meet traceability requirements while also gaining valuable insights into their operations.
